Ground Tackle

Val's primary ground tackle is a Lofrans Tigres windlass and a Rocna 20 anchor with 200 feet of 5/16 HT chain a 150 feet of 3/4 nylon rode.

Port Townsend Sails

Carol Hasse and Terry Cady are seen here evaluating the condition of Val's old genoa. We knew the mainsail needed replacing but we decided the old 140% genoa had to go as well. The new genoa is a 115% which will work better in high wind conditions and it has a slightly higher cut to improve forward visibility. The new mainsail is similar to the old one but it has slightly more roach and the two reefs are much deeper. It also incorporates the Strong Track system which makes reefing much easier.

Puget Sound - Val's new home

Looking west towards Olympic Mountains at sunset.

Looking south towards Elliott Bay and Mt. Rainier.

Valkyrie at Yachtfitters on Lake Union

Terry Cady and the crew at Yachtfitters are totally with the program no matter what you need to have done. A solid crew that's fun to work with. The work they've done on the boat, from rigging to brightwork and everything in between, has turned out great.
